About Patikang Hydrofarm

Where It Started: When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2019, food supply chains were severely disrupted, making it difficult for communities to access fresh and nutritious produce. With concerns rising over food security and the availability of high-quality vegetables, we saw an urgent need to take action. During that moment, we recognized how reliance on traditional farming and long supply chains made local communities vulnerable to shortages. We also realized that to ensure long-term food resilience and sustainability, we had to take a localized approach. This led us to establish Patikang Hydrofarm, providing fresh, nutrient-rich hydroponic vegetables directly to our community.

From Idea to Action: With food resilience in mind, we took action by building our own hydroponic farm. Recognizing the need for high-quality, nutrient-rich vegetables during the COVID-19 pandemic, we transformed our vision into reality. Patikang Hydrofarm was founded in Keningau with the goal of ensuring a steady supply of fresh produce while reducing dependence on long and unstable supply chains. Beyond just providing vegetables, our farm became a platform for educating the community on sustainable agriculture and the benefits of hydroponics. Today, we continue to grow, innovate, and strengthen local food security.

Where We Are Now: Today, Patikang Hydrofarm has grown into a thriving hydroponic production facility, integrating innovation, sustainability, and education. Every day, we explore new methods to enhance the quality and efficiency of hydroponic farming, from optimizing nutrient delivery systems to testing advanced growing techniques. At the same time, we welcome visitors from all walks of life—students, farmers, researchers, policymakers, and consumers—who are eager to learn about sustainable agriculture. Through our farm, we inspire and empower communities to embrace hydroponics as a key solution for food security and a more sustainable future.

In 2019, we built our first hydroponic greenhouse, covering a 40’x140’ space, designed to maximize efficiency and sustainability. With 20,000 planting holes, our system enables 10 harvesting cycles per year, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh, pesticide-free produce. This milestone marked the beginning of our journey toward expanding hydroponic farming, proving that innovation and dedication can transform agriculture into a more productive and eco-friendly industry.
